The steel tube tower structure has relative technical and economic advantages, which is suitable for the communication tower bearing heavy load.
(1) Load characteristics
Steel tower members bear small wind pressure, have large section bending stiffness, simple structure and clear force transmission, which can give full play to the bearing capacity of materials. On the one hand, it can reduce the weight of the tower and reduce the foundation force; on the other hand, it is conducive to enhance the ability to resist natural disasters under extreme conditions. Under the condition of meeting the requirements of strength and stability calculation, the steel tube tower with relatively small wind pressure shape coefficient can significantly reduce the wind load on the tower body.
(2) Section characteristics
The results show that the section of steel tube members is symmetrical in the center and isotropic in the section characteristics; the materials are evenly distributed in the periphery and the bending stiffness of the section is large. When the cross-sectional area of steel pipe and angle steel is equal, the steel pipe tower does not show its advantages. For the bending members of transmission tower, the steel tube with smaller cross-section and larger radius of gyration can give full play to the mechanical properties of the material and meet the requirements of structural stiffness and stability. Especially for the large load tower with larger geometric size and longer members, the advantages of good stability of steel tube tower members are obvious.
